Kickin' It Goddess Style
Down here on the Farm, we're a fairly laid-back lot. We don't go for a lot of hoo-hah and ceremony, and prefer the streamlined and simple to the intricate and ornate. Shoot first and ask questions later, you might say. Sometimes it even works out in our favour. Go figure.
So it came as big fat surprise to me that we threw down some old-school imagery without even trying.
Covenstead Farm started out with Witch the Elder, the older sister and original inhabitant. Middle Witch (me!) joined up two years ago. Then last October, due to an odd series of events and happenstance, Baby Witch moved in, lock, stock and broomstick.
Either we're terribly clever or it's just a complete coincidence, but between all us farm girls, we've precisely represented every aspect of the Triple Goddess. Maiden (Baby Witch, in every aspect), Mother (me again, what with the kid in college and all) and ... yeah, she'll hit me for saying it, but you gotta admit, Witch the Elder is Crone. And I'll be danged if we don't have nearly a dozen cats between us.
We're all as different as night and day... and whatever else is really different from night and day (night, day and corn chips, perhaps?) Between the clashing mood swings, the herd of cat-patches and the feral rooster that adorns our doorstep, I pity the fool that thinks Covenstead is an easy mark for anything but a black eye. Sure, there are the odd days of discord, just like in any family. But beneath it all, there is a fierce loyalty scarce in most blood-families. Cross one of us and you cross us all. ("Sucker" is implied there, by the way.)
Learning to mesh our wildly different styles of everything from music to magick has been an adventure that I wouldn't wish on anyone, but neither would I trade it for anything.
It's the differences that set us apart, and also bring us closer together. Rock on, Triple Goddesses!
